Hello, my name is Norma Burns and I love to make dolls! I specialize in primitive raggedy dolls but also enjoy making other primitive items. What is primitive?
Kassy, owner and proprietor of The Prim Country Market describes primitives in this way:
Primitive style is a unique duplication of the Early American and Colonial time period between the mid 1650s and early 1900s. A duplication of something made centuries earlier and found just yesterday. The grunge of something forgotten like a fine pair of tallow candles placed in the eaves of an old barn long ago by their colonial maker or a misplaced childs doll found behind the wall of an estate stained & dusty, suspended in time!
Primitive is Early American. Colonial and part of our history. The beginning of a nation, when people fought for what was right and little children learned their ABCs by stitching them on bits of fabric, a time long gone but deeply reasured.
I love that description! It really captures the spirit of what primitive craft making is all about.
Here at Primitive Raggedys I showcase the dolls that I make. You are welcome to purchase any of the dolls on display while they last and email me if you have any special orders. Also you will find many other primitive crafts such as bunnies, ornies, snowmen, angels, bears and primitive decor. We offer patterns and even have a few free ones! While you are here, please sign my guestbook and don't forget to check out the sale bin for those special buys!
Check back often as this site is not only a work in progress but will always be updated with new primitive items and resources. Signup for my newsletter and I'll keep you updated on what is going on at Primitive Raggedys. Hope you enjoy the site and if you would like to email me about anything please do!
